Polaris 2020.08 Release Notes

Here's what's new in Polaris 2020.08.

Polaris Platform

  • Polaris now supports integrating with JIRA Issue Tracking, using JIRA in the cloud. This enables Polaris users to send triaged issues back to the developer from the convenience of the Polaris UI.
  • Improved web help. We made the online documentation better by adding search and better internal navigation.

Polaris CLI

  • Updated support information for the platforms, languages, and compilers that can be used with Coverity on Polaris.
  • Updated hardware support information for Coverity on Polaris.
  • Added YML sample template project files for C#, Java/Gradle, Java/Maven, JavaScript (Node JS), and Python.
  • Added a CLI Quick Start Guide.
  • Provided sample examples of how to use the CLI arguments in the context of running a scan.
  • Updated documentation for simplified override of the YML file.
  • Local Coverity Incremental Analysis is supported in Limited Customer Availability. Please consult your Synopsys representative to see if you qualify to use it.
  • The Polaris CLI can now automatically assume smart defaults for .net projects.

Polaris API

  • Ability to compare runs, branches, or revisions and report the difference, either as a list of issues or a count of them.

Bug Fixes

  • POL-9043 Polaris CLI failing capture due to empty .war file.
  • POL-8942 Group by Path view did not show the next page of results when more than one page was available.

Known Issues

  • Although project contributors and observers cannot configure Jira, the controls are visible for them in the UI for the Polaris 2020.08 release. Attempting to make changes will result in an error message.
  • Polaris CLI might not exit or emit an error when an unsupported version is used. The following versions of Polaris CLI are supported for Polaris 2020.08:
    • 1.9.141
    • 1.8.149
