Each Synopsys tool has its own setup requirements. It is a good idea to make sure that these are met before you attempt to scan your source code.

Here is information to help you quickly get started using Code Sight.

  Each Synopsys tool has its own setup requirements. It is a good idea to make sure that these are met before you attempt to scan your source code.
  - Black Duck Setup Considerations
    To run Black Duck in Code Sight, a system must meet certain requirements.
  - Coverity Setup Considerations
    These are the main issues you should be aware of if you are responsible for setting up Code Sight to run Coverity Analysis.
  - Sigma Setup Considerations
    Sigma requires no special setup. To run Sigma, you have a choice of downloading it; or, if Sigma is already installed, you can instruct Code Sight to use the Sigma executable that is already present on your system.
- Installation
  Here are the instructions for installing Code Sight in the officially supported development environments. (Certain environments might be supported only in beta: For current information, see the Release Notes.)
- Authentication
  After you install it, the Code Sight plug-in prompts you to choose one of the Synopsys Software Integrity tools that you want Code Sight to run. Certain tools require you to authenticate yourself.
- Administration
  This section, aimed at system administrators, describes various options that affect the configuration of Code Sight itself, and of both the Black Duck and the Coverity tools.

Each Synopsys tool has its own setup requirements. It is a good idea to make sure that these are met before you attempt to scan your source code.

The subsections that follow describe the setup requirements for the different scanning tools.

Black Duck
Code Sight can run Black Duck without initial configuration, but it is best to make sure that certain requirements are met, and you might want to specify the particular build tools being used.

Coverity
For Coverity, you might need to specify custom configuration settings if your development environment:
- Uses Coverity Connect
- Has a nonstandard compiler setup
- Requires customizing the behavior of Coverity Analysis or of Code Sight itself

Sigma
Sigma does not require special configuration or authentication. You can download Sigma from a Synopsys server; or, if Sigma has already been installed on your system, you can choose to use the currently installed executable.
