Coverity on Polaris 2022.12.0 Release Notes

Note: This platform is renamed Coverity on Polaris. Unless otherwise specified, references to Polaris or Polaris Software Integrity Platform in this documentation are referring to Coverity on Polaris.

Here's what's new in Polaris 2022.9.0.

Coverity on Polaris Platform

  • Coverity 2021.12.3 is no longer supported.
  • Support for Coverity 2022.9.0 and 2022.3.4 are deprecated. It will be discontinued in a future release.
  • Coverity on Polaris supports Coverity Versions:
    • 2022.12.0 (Recommended)
    • 2022.9.2
    • 2022.9.0
    • 2022.6.1
    • 2022.6.0
    • 2022.3.4
  • Polaris now supports Coverity 2022.12.0. See Coverity 2022.12.0: Supported Platforms, Languages, and Compilers. It includes the following changes:
    • Support for macOS 10.15 has been removed.
    • Support for Go 1.17 has been removed.
    • Support for Kotlin 1.5.versions has been removed.
    • Support for .NET Core 3.1 has been removed.
    • Support for Visual Studio 2013 and 2015 has been removed.
    • Support for Go 1.18 is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.
    • Support for Kotlin 1.6 versions is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.
    • Support for LLVM Clang 6.0 is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.
    • Support for Visual Studio 2017 is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.
    • Support for GNU GCC and G++ 4.0 is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.

    • Added support for Visual Studio 2022 for Visual Basic compilers.
  • A new application manager role has been added. This role can create new projects and can create applications. The application manager has access to and can manage all projects and applications within the organization.
  • Various security fixes.
  • Bug Fix: Issues with high CPU load on databases were fixed. (POL-15714)

Polaris CLI

  • The following versions of the Coverity on Polaris CLI Scan Client are supported in this release:
    • 2022.12.0 (Recommended)
    • 2022.9.0
    • 2022.6.0
    • 2022.3.1 (Deprecated)
  • Coverity Options Available on Coverity on Polaris is no longer password-protected so has been added to standard documentation (see Available Coverity Analyze Options).
  • Enhancement: Rapid Scan Static (the Sigma analysis engine) can now be disabled in the configuration file with the cov-analyze option "--disable-sigma" if you want to turn it off in order to decrease the number of low-severity issues. (POL-15475 and POL-15499)
  • Bug Fix: Configuration was updated to help with issues downloading reports for all projects. (POL-15664)

Polaris API

  • New APIs have been added for the application manager role (see API Reference documentation for more details).
