QuickStart for the Code Sight Standard Edition
The Code Sight Standard Edition is set up so you can quickly register yourself, download the analysis tools, and begin scanning source.

1. Requirements
In release 2023.1.0, only the Microsoft Visual Studio Code editor and the supported JetBrains IDEs, including IntelliJ IDEA, can run the Standard Edition.
2. Install Code Sight on your own system
If you need to, install Code Sight into your integrated development environment (IDE). Synopsys Code Sight is available on the VS Code Marketplace and the JetBrains Marketplace.

3. Register the Code Sight Standard Edition
When you launch Code Sight in a JetBrains IDE or in VS Code, it displays a tab that lets you register and then download the Code Sight Standard Edition.


After you fill out the form and click Start Trial, Code Sight quickly installs free trials of the Rapid Scan Static and Rapid Scan SCA engines.
If you have already obtained or been given a license for the Code Sight Standard Edition, you can click Add License to enter the license’s path.
The Products & Licenses view (JetBrains) or the Choose a Product tab (VS Code) also gives you the option of connecting to your Coverity or Coverity on Polaris server, or to your Black Duck server, provided that your organization has purchased the corresponding licenses.
4. Start scanning your source code
When you run VS Code:

To see the Code Sight controls, click the icon in the margin that shows the Synopsys logo.

To see the Code Analysis scanning and filtering icons, navigate to the CODE ANALYSIS view.
Use the Scan Type drop-down list to choose Rapid Scan on all files, then click the Run Code Analysis Scan icon to launch a full static scan of your code base.
While a scan is running, you can click the Cancel icon to stop scanning.
Alternatively, you can click the Mode label and choose Automatic Rapid Scan from the drop-down list. While auto-scan is enabled, Code Sight runs Rapid Scan Static on a single source file whenever you open a file or save it.

To see the Open Source Analysis scanning icon, navigate to the OPEN SOURCE ANALYSIS view.
In the OPEN SOURCE ANALYSIS view, click the Run Open Source Analysis Scan icon to run a full software composition scan of your code base.
While a scan is running, you can click the Cancel icon to stop scanning.

To see the Code Analysis scanning and filtering icons, navigate to the CODE ANALYSIS view.
When you run IntelliJ or another JetBrains IDE:

In the Code Analysis view, use the Run drop-down list to choose Rapid Scan on all files, then click the SCAN icon to launch a full static scan of your code base.
While a scan is running, you can click the Cancel icon to stop scanning.
Alternatively, you can click the Auto toggle to enable automatic scanning. While auto-scan is enabled, Code Sight runs Rapid Scan Static on a single source file whenever you open a file or save it.
